Campaign for Clean Water
International Action has developed many water-based projects to aid the people of Haiti and eliminate water pollution in the country. In collaboration with Haitian officials and private citizens alike, we install, maintain, and supply chlorinators, install or replace community water tanks, deliver water via truck, and distribute chlorine to communities in need.
Since the 2010 earthquake, International Action has been working with DINEPA (the Haitian water agency), the International Committee of the Red Cross (CICR), Action Against Hunger, and Oxfam to install chlorinators on all restored water tanks in the metropolitan Port-au-Prince area. While our primary focus lies in Port-au-Prince – particularly the areas of Cité Soleil, Delmas, and Pétion-ville – we continue to expand our operation in Haiti each month. Our water solutions have provided access to clean water for over half-a-million Haitians so far.
Chlorinator Installation
To date, we’ve installed and maintain roughly 80 chlorinators throughout Haiti – with four more being installed each month. For as little as $300 per chlorinator, community water supplies can provide drinkable water. Learn more
Water Tanks Installation
The earthquake of 2010 damaged or destroyed many of the community water tanks around Haiti. In an effort to help rebuild, we install two 2,000-gallon water tanks monthly. These tanks allow thousands of Haitians to access clean water. Additionally, 150-gallon tanks have been installed at nearly all of the 92 schools in Cité Soleil, ensuring Haitian children don’t go thirsty. Learn more
Water Delivery
Our recently purchased 1,200-gallon water truck delivers water to three internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, one clinic, and several schools throughout Cité Soleil. We are currently seeking to expand the reach of this project to include water delivery in areas outside of Port-au-Prince. Learn more
Chlorine Distribution
Our warehouse in Haiti stores chlorine tablets, granular chlorine, and chlorine testing kits ready for distribution to communities in need. Our chlorine solutions are safe, easy-to-use options for providing clean water in Haiti. Learn more
